Design competition sponsored by Herman Miller, Continental Office, and Framery to design a Framery Pod for the campus of Ohio State University. My design was selected as first place, and has been installed on campus.
For my design I elected to create an energetic striped pattern in the OSU branding colors. The stripes are representative of the soundwaves of the singing of Carmen Ohio, a song that is embedded in Ohio State tradition. I chose this particular design for the Framery Q pod because the energetic nature of the color palette and pattern as well as the connection to school spirit encourages collaboration between students.
Carmen Ohio is a song strongly integrated into Ohio State culture. It is carved into the walls of the Main Hall at the Ohio Union, and is played at all major events including football games, convocation, and graduation. Lyrics are below.
Oh come let's sing Ohio's praise
And songs to Alma Mater raise
While our hearts rebounding thrill
With joy which death alone can still
Summer's heat or winter's cold
The seasons pass the years will roll
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... OHIO!
Herman Miller selected my design as first place for the competition, but requested to install it as a Framery O pod. My design was installed in the first floor study room in Smith Lab.
